Bio/demographical basics:
Canadian, caucasian, live in Treaty One territory. Have been online one way or another since 1997 - yes, I'm that old. Cis woman, married to a guy, two children.
Fandoms, historical and current:
I discovered online fandom through X-Files (Usenet and Gossamer, woo!), migrated to Tolkien fandom when the Lord of the Rings movies came out, spent some time in Buffy/Angel, and then stepped back for almost a decade while real life was very busy. Had brief flirtations with Heroes, Deadwood, Firefly, Parks and Rec, and a few more.
At the moment I'm really only active in Star Wars fandom (sequel trilogy and Rogue One flavours) and various tiny literary fandoms.
Other things I watch or have watched enough of to discuss, though I don't really keep up with fandom for them: The Expanse, The Mandalorian, The Good Place, Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Westworld, Game of Thrones.
If a canon includes things like spaceships, spies, intrigue, and/or female warriors or soldiers, I'll probably be interested in it. I'm also a multishipper whose strongest negative feeling about any ship is generally "eh, not for me, but you do you." If you have strong beliefs about fictional depiction equalling endorsement, we likely aren't going to see eye to eye.
Desert island books: The Lord of the Rings, Always Coming Home, Persuasion
Other interests: reading, writing, libraries (I work as a public librarian), music, hockey, and surviving as the parent of two teenagers.

Date: 2019-02-20 07:31 pm (UTC)I cringe at certain scenes in which Midge is steam-rollering over everyone else. But Susie (her butch friend/manager) is wonderful, and I like the behind the scenes comedy club stuff; the way Midge always has cutting put-downs for douchey men is extremely satisfying. And the sets, and the period clothes!! It feels like time-travelling back to the 50s.
